Chapter 22
Willow took a deep breath after stepping out of the courthouse. Sunlight spilled across her face, and even the air felt fresher than before.
She turned around and looked at Chad, who looked dejected. In a rare good mood, she offered a small consolation, "Don't be too sad now. Just cherish Laurel. What you feel for me now is nothing more than a fixation on something you've already lost."
Chad's Adam's apple bobbed slightly as he croaked, "Can we… exchange contact information? Can you unblock my number?"
Willow raised her brows. "There's no need to, isn't it? A decent ex should be as good as dead."
"But aren't we still friends?" Chad anxiously asked. "After all, we grew up together…"
"Plenty of us grew up together," Willow interrupted him. "Joseph, Faith—didn't we grow up with them too?"
Chad's expression faltered immediately upon hearing Joseph's name. "You'd better stay away from Joseph—he's not good news."
"Who I see is none of your business!" Willow glared at him, exasperated.
