NATALIE’S POV The second that guard knocked on the office door, everything shattered. Liam and I were still pressed against each other. My heart was beating too loud in my chest. My breath was warm against his collarbone until the sound of the door jolted me back into reality. I immediately pushed away from him. The air between us turning ice cold. I stepped back quickly, grabbing my clothes on the floor with my hands trembling. Liam’s expression darkened. He turned to the guard like he wanted to rip him in half. “What is it?” He growled. The guard bowed again, “I’m sorry to interrupt, Alpha. Janine is requesting to see you.” The guard looked scared, clearly realizing his timing had been terrible. “I’ll deal with her later.” Liam snapped. The guard swallowed hard. “I’m sorry, your highness but she insists it is urgent. She says she wants to see you now.” “Get. Out.” Liam’s voice was pure command.
