"She's starting to doubt," Ivanka reported, her usual playful demeanor replaced with something more serious. The witch paced my office, her dark robes swishing against the floor. "The family dinner… it affected her more than we anticipated."
I leaned back in my chair, considering this development. "How so?"
"Grace's warmth, the siblings' acceptance—" Ivanka's lip curled slightly. "She's beginning to question whether they could really be the monsters we've painted them as."
"You mean the monsters you made her see." The words came out sharper than intended. "Through your nightmares."
Ivanka paused her pacing, a sly smile crossing her face. "The magic merely… enhanced what was already there. Gave form to her fears, substance to her hatred." She waved her hand, and shadows danced across the wall. "It was simple enough to craft Lancelot's face into her memories, to make him the villain of her childhood trauma."
