Katelyn’s POV
The next day at work, the air was heavy with tension. Even before I reached the main floor, I could sense something was off.
People were whispering in small groups, their eyes darting toward the windows where a crowd was forming outside.
The atmosphere was nothing like the usual buzz before a breaking news cycle; it felt like everyone was holding their breath, waiting for the next big shock.
As I reached the main stairs, the low thrum of voices below grew louder.
Down in the lobby, I could see flashes of cameras and the glint of bright lights set up by half a dozen competing media outlets.
