Chapter 27: Cinder

~ Narrator ~ Flames nipped his arms and legs as Drake walked the lava stone pathway toward the center of hell. The screams of tormented souls didn’t please him like it did all the others. He wished they were all silenced. Drake didn’t want to visit his father, but he was summoned, and he didn’t feel like dealing with all the shit that came with defying him. Drake’s mind drifted back to earlier when he struck Willow in the face. He has never hit her before, and he isn’t proud of himself for it now. It was more reflex than anger that provoked him. When Willow slapped him causing claw marks, his instinct overcame rational thought. “There's no way she’s going to forgive me for that.” Drake said out loud as he continued down the pathway which was lumpy and unlevel underneath his feet.
