I followed the man out, catching sight of his fleeing figure as he raced up the street, turning the corner. Shockingly fast for someone of his age—except it was a facade, I thought, gritting my teeth as I shoved through the pedestrians on the road.
"Stop there!" I yelled, but he only seemed to get faster.
The restaurant door opened behind me and I could distinctly hear Aria yelling my name. It didn't matter; none of that did. And I remained hot on his trail until we were completely down the road now.
He took an abrupt turn. I raced into an alley after him, skidding to a stop, glancing at either side, but the man was gone.
I stepped forward slowly. Narah growled low in my chest, my wolf on red alert. Suddenly, shadows moved around and then it hit me.
Damn it, I cursed under my breath. I was lured into this place. I was so focused on catching the man that I didn't think that it could be a trap.
I gritted my teeth at this. Now I knew that he was fully involved in Mira's abduction.
