Chapter 90

When I make it downstairs, I'm met with Evan closing the front door as he walks through it. He carries a few bags from the shop in town. Once he sees me, he sends me a smile. My feet carry me to him. I embrace him from the side, careful as to not make him drop any of the bags he's carrying. He hugs me back with his spare arm and leans down to give me a kiss on the crown of my head. "I thought you were sleeping," I say as we let go of each other. "We're leaving soon." I follow Evan as he walks deeper into the house and towards the base of the stairs. We walk up the stairs together and I follow him into his room. He drops the few bags he carries onto the floor, my eyes landing on them. "What's in those bags?" I ask. He turns to me, eyeing them. "Just some snacks for us to eat on the way to the palace," he says, shrugging. "I thought we all might be hungry on the way there."
