Lorelei
Disgust curdled in my stomach. They looked less like siblings, more like lovers sneaking kisses behind closed doors. And not a single person noticed me—because why would they? Lorelei was always invisible unless she could be used.
"Winnie, drink some soup," Luna Judy cooed, appearing with a steaming bowl. "I made it specially for you. It'll give you strength."
Winnie wrinkled her brows, delicate as porcelain. "But, Mom, what if I gain weight? I can't afford to look bloated."
"This show will be physically demanding," Luna Judy scolded lightly. "You need nourishment to compete."
Then her gaze landed on me.
The sweetness drained from her face like ink from parchment. Her eyes narrowed, poison dripping from every line of her expression.
She slammed the bowl onto the coffee table, soup splattering across the surface.
"So you do remember where your home is," she hissed. "Where are the gifts? Did you bring them back?"
