Ella’s POV Alexander stayed true to his word and locked himself in his office for the rest of the day. No one saw him, except for Hunter, who brought him his meals and checked on him periodically—but only ever received muffled words through the door and was never allowed in. It seemed that Alexander was truly concerned about what might happen if he got too close to anyone. It was both a frightening and saddening thought. I wished I could have remained by his side, but out of everyone, Alexander especially refused to see me or Lucien. So for the rest of the day, I was alone.
