Madoka’s Point of view
I kept busy alternately stalking through the forest or calling any contact I could think of who might be of assistance.
It was morning a few days later when the sounds of a pair of stumbling feet caught my attention, breaking the long wait. It wasn't a werewolf, because we moved with the grace of our animals in the forest. Joseph and I exchanged glances, and just before we hid, I caught Dean Jordan's scent. She broke through the trees.
Dean Jordan flew just behind him.
"Greetings, Mad!" she called, her voice jarringly cheerful under the circumstances.
"Sorry I took so long," Jordan chirped. "Humans are so slow in the forest."
"She's not wrong," Joseph agreed with a wolfy shrug.
Jordan wasn't too tired to shoot her a dirty look.
"My expertise is magical subterfuge, not traipsing around the forest. We built civilization so no one would have to deal with this unruly mess if they didn't want to. You're welcome."
