A Formidable Enemy

(Anna) A ray of hope ignited in our hearts hearing this news. “Can you take us to the location where you sighted Ruby?” Asher asked with a plea. “Of course! Alpha King, if you will follow me.” The older woman moved ahead and we quickly followed her. She led us to a muddy area near the North border. “Here! I saw her hurrying away,” the old woman pointed and we rushed to look for any clues. We scanned the area. Asher bent down to inspect closely. He found some messy footprints and beckoned me to his side. “Anna! Look, someone seemed to have hurriedly passed through here.” I lowered myself to see the footprints up close. They seemed to have been made from a long heel because there were holes in the ground along with half footprints, meaning the wearer was a woman with heels. There were a few smaller prints, all muddled up, which made me anxious because they could be Oliver's, but I wasn't sure. Quietly but anxiously, I began to follow the footprints; Asher was right behind me, staying on
