CHAPTER 13
As Eva recovered slowly, the council of elders demanded to talk to her. They wanted to know exactly what happened, hearing from her.
A meeting with them was set up and everyone important was present in the hall.
That day, council chamber was filled with tension so thick it could be sliced clean with a blade. Elders from the pack had gathered, forming a ring of power and judgment around Eva as she stood. She looked pale but composed. She stood in the center of them all, showing no sign of fear even though her heart was beating like crazy inside.
Zayne was seated at the head of the table, his eyes never leaving her. Leah sat to his right. Her chin was raised high. Her father, Barry Westbank, sat with the elders, narrowing his eyes at Eva.
"We ask again," one of the elders said. His tone was rigid and formal. "What exactly happened the night you disappeared, Lady Eva?"
