Chapter 5
It didn't hurt the way I imagined. Instead, I felt that my body had become incredibly light, drifting in the air like a cloud.
Christopher roared in rage, shifting into his wolf before leaping out of the window. He ran wildly under the moonlight, his angry eyes wide and searching, though it seemed like he couldn't see me at all.
Upon seeing his bewildered and desperate attempts to find me, I couldn't help but chuckle softly. Then, I suddenly heard a deep, resonant voice with a magnetic quality echo close to my ears, asking, "Is this good enough for you?"
I was startled as I realized I was drifting toward Mistfall Forest. I looked upward, but there wasn't a soul in sight. "You've saved me again. I'm just an ordinary human, though. What use could I possibly be to you?"
I received no response.
It wasn't long before I reached Mistfall Forest. It was a small wooded area on the outskirts of town, and because it was situated at the base of a mountain, it was constantly enveloped in mist.
