Bethany ultimately gave in to Silas' intense stare. She unbuckled her seatbelt in the backseat and reluctantly slid into the passenger seat.
After closing the door, she glanced at Silas. "Thanks for today."
Silas suddenly smiled and didn't hold back. "You really owe me one today. If I hadn't shown up, were you actually planning to apologize to that little bitch?"
Hearing him referring to Ella as a "little bitch", Bethany felt strangely satisfied. "I wasn't planning on apologizing to her."
Silas scoffed. "Good, then. I almost thought you were the type to let people push you around without retaliating."
Bethany lowered her head and stared at her hands resting on her knees. "I'm not that kind of person."
Silas' crisp cedar scent suddenly drew closer. He leaned in, his knuckles brushing her lower abdomen. Bethany froze.
Noticing her tension, Silas smiled as he pulled the seatbelt over her body and secured it with a click.
His gaze flicked to her flushed ears. "Afraid that I'll eat
