Chapter 15
A month later, on a private island overseas, Ava stood before a floor-length mirror. Her fingertips lightly touched the whip mark on her collarbone that hadn't fully healed.
A man appeared at the doorway, holding a bowl.
"Drink your medicine," he said.
Although he was wearing a simple white linen shirt, it couldn't conceal his innate, powerful air.
Ava took the bowl, and her fingertips accidentally brushed against his fingers. Both of them were slightly stunned.
"Thank you, Landon," she said softly, her gaze sincere. "Thank you for saving me, and thank you for these past three years—"
"No need to thank me," Landon Greer interrupted her before he turned to look out the window at the blue sea. "I just happened to be passing by."
He said this casually, but Ava knew the truth was far more than that.
The area where she fell into the sea wasn't on any regular shipping route. If Landon hadn't had people secretly protecting her all along, how could he have saved her so promptly both
