THE MARRIED LIFE

Since Diane used to wake up early in the morning.?When the clock hit at 6, she got up.?She yawned and did some stretching. She can't force herself to sleep again. It's difficult for her to go back to sleep if she has already woken up. Like her daily routine at the apartment with Margie, she prayed first then went to the bathroom to take a bath. "Feeling fresh!" She smiled as she walked out of the bathroom. She just wore a?simple shirt and paired it with knee-length floral shorts. She combed her long black shiny hair and let it loose. She wears no makeup. Well, this is her first day of being a wife. She suddenly remembered how her mommy takes care of them and looks after their needs. Diane suddenly misses her mother. Her mom prepares breakfast every morning and now that she already has a husband, it's her job to do that even if their marriage isn't real; a fake one, a marriage where she is being paid to fake her responsibilities. Their marriage has expiration. After 2 years, they will part their ways. She will gain her freedom again. She fixed herself and glanced at the mirror for a final look then when she was satisfied, she left her room and went to the kitchen. It was silent. It's still dark outside since it's still early. She opened the fridge and to her surprise, it didn't have anything except for a few bottles of water and cans of beer.? Her husband seems to be an alcoholic. She shook her head. Looks like he is going through something. Well, there are a few pieces of egg just enough for their breakfast. God. There's no fresh milk. Is there really a human being living in this house? She checked around and there were just two pairs of spoon and fork, a glass, a couple of plates and saucers and to her dismay, there's no mug. How can she drink coffee now? Her eyes searched the place again. God. There's no electric kettle. Why? Obviously, the people who lived here aren't fond of coffee. That's a bit surprising. Most of the people she knows drink at least a cup of coffee a day. She doesn't know whether to cry or laugh. ?What did she do with her life and what situation did she just put herself into? Her husband is handsome but he seems to be very weird. No, that's not the right term, mysterious. She can't help herself but to pull her hair. She wanted to squat and fall on the floor.? How can she live here?? How can she live without coffee? Her day starts with a cup of coffee. She is a coffee lover. She doesn't know if she can last a day without drinking one. She let out a deep sigh and looked again outside of the house. It's getting bright.? "I hope he wakes up soon." She grabbed her phone and checked the time. It's already seven in the morning. She doesn't want to ruin her day just because of not having a coffee. "Oh, well. At least he said we will go out and do groceries today," she said to herself. She didn't expect it to be like this. Last night, they had dinner. Alex just ordered a pizza and that's the only thing they have eaten since then. "I can already hear my stomach," she uttered.? She was just ashamed last night to check the kitchen if there's anything else she can eat or even asked her husband if that's all that they will be having. Diane used to eat real food like she will cook dinner or Margie. They don't order food that's too expensive for them and unhealthy as well. She just went straight to her room after eating the pizza and didn't attempt to start any talks with her husband. Her mind is still in process of absorbing what happened the whole day and besides, she hadn't recovered yet all the energy she released. She needed to have a beauty rest. She shook her head to wake herself up. She wanted to clean the house or do something but all of her body parts are still lazy. She feels too lazy to move even just a foot. Diane looked outside.? "God! This can't be happening. I need a mug of coffee." She needs to drink a cup of coffee. Her blood craves for it. Funny, but it's like her vitamin. Ever since she tasted coffee, the first thing that she does when she wakes up is to have a coffee.? Her nanny greets her with a mug of coffee.? Coffee makes her day brighter no matter what. During the busy days or even when the stress level is high, coffee is all she needs to get her mind back up and think properly. She closed her eyes. She suddenly remembered the life she used to have. She doesn't regret whatever decisions she made.? She simply misses it. "I missed it." She fought back the tears in her eyes. She needs to be strong. She needed to prove that she can live on her own, especially to her dad. She cannot go back home. Not now. Alex suddenly woke up as he felt thirsty. When he tries to grab the bottle of water on his bedside table, he cannot touch anything. There's no bottle of water on his bedside table. He might have forgotten to bring one inside last night because he is so exhausted arranging his marriage and getting his wife moved into his house. Oh, yeah, his wife. He almost forgot. They got married. No, he made a deal with her. Their marriage is in a contract; a contract that will expire in 2 years. He just needed to bring her and introduce her to his family so they would stop pressuring him. He checked his phone and saw that it's already seven in the morning. He got up and fixed his bed. He went to the washroom to get himself ready for the day. He opened the door of his room and saw a woman's back. Oh, there she is. Diane obviously got out of the shower. He inhaled the fresh scent of the soap and shampoo from her.? Unexpectedly, a part of him woke up as well. He tried to control himself not to pull the woman and hug her from her behind. He took a deep breath as he walked towards the woman. He calmed himself down because he might be unable to control himself. The woman might turn out frightened if he will hug her and lock her inside his arms. "Good morning," he said in a hoarse voice and walked past the woman who was standing on the glass wall and looking outside. If he wouldn't do that, he might fail to control himself and he doesn't know what will happen next. Diane was startled by the voice coming from behind her.? A man just greeted her and went straight to the kitchen. She followed him with her eyes. "Good morning," she said with a little energy. God.? She really needs coffee. Even if feeling lazy, she followed the man who took a bottle of water and drank it. She wanted to ask what time they would be going out to buy groceries because she really wanted to have a coffee. But, Diane saw how his Adam's apple moves every time he drinks. She can't help but swallow. This makes her throat dry. Would this be the view she will have every morning? He's jaw-dropping handsome. Everything he holds looks like he's like endorsing it. He can be a perfect commercial model. "Wow, you woke up early?" he asked her. She was surprised when he suddenly looked at her. She looked away before answering but too late, she could feel her face turn red. There's no way that she can deny this time. He caught her staring at him.? "Yes, I am used to waking up early. It's my body clock," she replied but without looking at the man. "Is that so?" he said and started to walk towards her. "Yes, I am on the morning shift at the cafe, so I need to get up early so I won't be late for work," she explained. She can hear the steps of the man slowly approaching her. Her heart rate changed. She looked in the man's direction. To her surprise, they almost bumped into each other when she turned. He is already in front of her! She can feel his breath touching her face. She closed her eyes. Did she just marry this man? Well, this handsome man made a deal with her. She still can't believe it. "Alright, let's go and eat our breakfast outside," Alex said, which made her come back to her senses. Seriously, Diane, it's early in the morning and she's acting like she isn't in her right mind.
