At first, I thought everything would go smoothly. The next day, however, I received news that Danica had gone missing. I was so shocked that I sprinted out of my place, still wearing my pajamas. I searched the places Danica loved going and called everyone I could think of, but I still didn't come close to finding her. I stood at the intersection, showing her picture to everyone who walked by. Yet, no one had seen her. The midsummer sun was scorching, making my head spin and my skin ache. In a daze, I suddenly thought about how Scott had gone mad that day. Then, the answer hit me. I hurriedly called a cab and made my way to the hospital. As I stood at the office door and saw Danica sitting on Scott's lap, I felt a sudden sense of relief. At the next moment, however, my breath caught in my throat.
