Chapter 11
A week later, my old guard sent me a message with the news.
"Luna, are you really not coming back? Tomorrow is Ivy's public trial in the town square. It was Silas who personally ordered it."
I didn't respond. Instead, I quietly returned to this place that had once turned my blood cold.
I wanted to see Ivy go to hell with my own eyes.
I pulled on a simple gray cloak and drew the hood low, hiding most of my face.
No one noticed me. Their faces were filled with curiosity and barely concealed excitement.
A high platform had already been erected in the center of the square.
All around, a sea of pack members murmured in a low, buzzing hum.
Then I saw her.
Ivy was hauled onto the platform by two guards. Her coarse linen prison garb hung loosely, her bare feet shuffling against the cold stones. Her long hair, once meticulously cared for, clung greasy and limp to her pale face.
Her belly was swollen, close to full term.
