Chapter 4
The car pulled into the hunting grounds parking area.
Silas got out first, then carefully helped Ivy down, one arm firmly around her.
He glanced at his flickering screen, his brow tightening.
Ivy immediately withdrew her hand, her expression gentle and accommodating. "Silas, if something urgent came up, you should go take care of it."
Still uneasy, Silas checked her protective gear one more time before finally turning and walking away.
I moved off to the side and tested the tension of my bowstring, getting a feel for it.
"Luna."
Ivy had come up behind me without my noticing. She tilted her head back, gazing at the sky. "What do you think it looks like when a pack of starving rogue wolves goes after its prey?"
Her voice drifted in the wind, carrying an unsettling innocence.
I frowned at the sweet smile curving her lips. Every instinct in me went on full alert. "What are you talking about?"
