Chapter 10
Liam then led me to a warehouse outside campus. With his hand gently placed over my eyes, he said, "Close your eyes."
A faint dusty, musky smell of dust and paint then filled the air. "Okay. You can open your eyes now."
The warehouse was filled with all sorts of items. There was no main source of light inside; only a few spotlights hung from the ceiling, shining in the middle of the space.
I went to the first shelf and saw that it was lined with velvet. There was an ugly stone with a smiley face drawn on it. It was the stone I had given him when we were in middle school. I told him that he was like a rock—hard and annoying.
The second shelf housed a crumpled-up piece of a candy wrapper. It was orange-flavored.
I suffered from low blood sugar, and Liam could only find this candy after going to all the convenience stores he could find. I thought the candy was too sour for me, so I only ate one.
