Chapter 12
It was Lucas who had told Walter that Nora would be coming back.
Nora hadn't even called Walter to let him know. Clearly, she had pushed him to the back of her mind a long time ago. Yet now, she wanted to act like she missed him.
Walter scoffed at the thought, refusing to look back at her, and even started trying to pry her arms off. But Nora just clung to him even tighter, her tears falling one after another onto his shoulder.
When Walter finally felt the wetness on his shirt, he let out a long sigh and stopped trying to shake her off.
Still, he grumbled, "You say you missed me, but you disappeared for six years and left me all alone. If it weren't for Lucas always checking in on me, you probably wouldn't even know if I'd kicked the bucket by now."
He sounded completely put out, but Nora quickly covered his mouth to stop him from saying such things, her eyes full of worry. "Grandpa, you're going to live to 100. Don't say things like that."
