Chapter 13
Meanwhile, back in Harbor City, Elliot didn't make it home until three nights later.
When he opened the door, he was greeted by darkness. So, out of habit, he called out for Nora. But after calling her name several times, the apartment remained silent and still.
He turned on the lights, and the empty room looked exactly as it had when he left. That was when he remembered that she was supposed to be away on a business trip.
Now that he thought about it, Nora hadn't contacted him at all these past few days. She was supposed to tell him what day she'd be back so he could pick her up, but she never did.
As Elliot wandered into the living room, he took out his phone and opened their chat box. It was filled with messages from Nora, all eager to share her life with him.
Sometimes, she would share something funny from work. Other times, it was small moments from her day. Now and then, she would carefully ask if he wanted to spend time together or vent about minor frustrations.
