Allison's POV
Miranda from King Corporation had just left after confirming contract details when I found myself staring blankly at my computer screen. I had no idea what to do about my mother Gina's persistent dinner invitations. Despite repeatedly explaining that Liam wasn't available, she refused to take no for an answer.
My phone suddenly vibrated on my desk. Seeing the caller ID, I grabbed it and hurried outside the office to answer.
"Allison, why did it take you so long to answer?" Liam's voice came through deep and magnetic, even more captivating than usual. I felt my ears warming slightly.
"Couldn't talk freely in the office," I replied, suppressing the slight flutter in my chest. "What's up?"
"Come home early tonight." Without further explanation, he hung up.
