Chapter 236
Author's POV
The phone video continued playing as Allison stared through bleary, intoxicated eyes. "Turn it off!" she shouted, her voice hoarse. "I don't want to hear anymore!"
Henry reached over and stopped the video, his face etched with concern. "Allison, you're drunk. That's enough." He gently took the bottle from her hand, his fingers brushing against hers.
Allison stood up to grab the bottle back, but the sudden movement sent the room spinning. She collapsed back into her chair with a thud, her face contorted with discomfort. The alcohol had dulled her senses, but not the pain of what she'd just learned.
Outside the restaurant, Allison leaned against a tree, violently emptying the contents of her stomach. Henry returned from his car with water, helping her rinse her mouth.
"Thank you..." she mumbled, looking slightly more coherent. Then, as if the weight of everything suddenly crashed down on her, Allison crouched down, wrapped her arms around her legs, and began to sob uncontrol
