(Sarah's POV)
My hands were shaking so badly I could barely hold the phone to my ear. The Winter Pack house, once the pride of the Northern territories, now seemed to echo with our fallen status.
"I know you have another family outside now with your twins. I can't control you, nor can I ask anything of you." My voice cracked with desperation. "But I beg you, don't be so cruel to us. You used to dote on Grace too."
The silence on the other end of the line was deafening. I clung to the hope that the years we spent raising Grace together meant something to Marcus. He couldn't be entirely heartless—not to the daughter he once cherished.
