Chapter 245:Apple and Millet Porridge
(Emma's POV)
An hour passed like an eternity as I sat outside the operating room, every minute ticking by with excruciating slowness. I'd never been good with blood or injuries, but somehow I couldn't bring myself to leave. The image of Erik's blood-soaked shoulder kept flashing in my mind.
Finally, the door opened and Erik emerged, his face betraying none of the pain he must have been feeling. His shirt had been cut away, replaced by pristine white bandages wrapped around his broad shoulder. Despite having just had a silver bullet removed from his flesh—a procedure that would have most wolves unconscious for days—he walked with the same commanding presence as always.
His amber eyes flickered with surprise when they found me still sitting in the hallway.
"You've been here all along?" he asked, his voice impossible to read.
I nodded nervously, my gaze fixed on his bandaged shoulder. "Is the bullet out? Does it hurt?" The questions slipped out before I could stop them.
