(Scarlett's POV)
Sarah’s face twisted into something feral, her rage boiling over the surface. Her lips trembled as realization struck her – I would not help her. Not for Grace. Not for her pack. Not for anyone but myself.
“You won’t convince them?” she seethed, her words nearly spitting out of her mouth.
There was no need for me to pretend. I kept my voice calm and even, letting her frustration fill the air. “I won’t.”
Her breath quickened, her chest heaving like she couldn’t quite inhale properly. “She’s dying, Scarlett!” Sarah snapped, her voice cracking under the sheer venom of her words. “Have you no heart left in you? No bond? Grace is still your sister—”
“She is nothing to me.” My words were ice cold, devoid of even an inch of remorse. I met her eyes, emerald against hazel, unrelenting. “Let’s not play this game, Sarah. Sister, pack, family? Those are words you clung to while you pushed me aside.”
