Chapter 39
Foster's POV
Victory was within my grasp. I leaned back in my chair, allowing myself a small smile as I surveyed the Council chamber. These fools had no idea how thoroughly I'd stacked the deck in my favor.
Three of the seven Elders had already accepted my "donations" to their pet charities. Another was deeply indebted to me from a business deal years ago. The vote was practically a formality at this point.
All I needed was Felix. Once I had my son back, Summer would follow. She might be playing house with that bastard Alexander Blackwood now, but I knew her weakness. She'd crawl back to me for the chance to see her precious boy.
The thought of how much this little insurance policy had cost me made me wince internally. My pack finances would take months to recover from the bribes I'd distributed. Worth every penny, though, to put Summer back in her place.
I glanced over at her, sitting beside Blackwood with that newfound confidence. Pathetic. She'd learn soon enough who she truly belon
