Chapter40-She sleeps with Cayden
Katelyn’s POV
The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room. I blinked, my body warm, tangled in sheets that didn’t belong to me.
Then, I turned my head.
Cayden.
He was still asleep beside me, his breathing deep and steady. His arm was lazily draped over my waist, his bare skin warm against mine.
For a moment, I just stared.
I couldn’t believe it.
I had spent the night with Cayden. He remarked me.
My heart pounded, my mind racing with conflicting emotions. I carefully slid out of bed, wrapping the blanket around myself as I sat at the edge, staring at my trembling hands.
What had I done?
But then, another thought crept in—Why does this feel… right?
I had spent ten years in a marriage with no passion, no warmth. With Ethan, intimacy had always felt obligatory, like a duty rather than something I wanted. But with Cayden… it had been different. Easy. Natural.
Maybe love wasn’t a necessary condition for intimacy. Maybe attraction was enough.
