CHAPTER 3: TO BE FREE FROM HEARTBREAK

ROSE'S POV Eric stood at the door. His eyes burning with rage, an expression on his face that showed the opposite of not-nice. I was surprised to see him come this early. I thought he was going to spend the whole night with that girlfriend of his. It was quite clear he was close to the house when I called him a few minutes ago. As Eric treaded closer, I couldn't help but feel quite uncomfortable. We fixed our gaze on each other, with an uneasy feeling going right through me. "Can you please explain to me what's going on?" Eric demanded an explanation. He looked me dead in the eyes. My gaze simply went downwards. "I asked you a question, didn't I?" Eric shrieked. "Now give me an answer!" "I told you already, I want a divorce!" I replied with a slight shout. "You want a divorce?" Eric drove his hands through his hair, sighing. "You seriously want a divorce?" "Do I look like I'm joking?" I held a serious face as well. "Eric, we shouldn't be wasting any more time. It's all over between us. The love has finally ended." Eric softly slapped his face. "Don't you think you're going too far?" "Too far?" I shot him a confused face. "Do you have any idea of the pains that you have caused me in the past three years Eric, do you?" He simply looked at me, not knowing what to say I'd suppose. "I can take this anymore," I spoke, almost breaking in tears, but I held myself together. "Just do as I have told you, okay?" Eric crossed his arms. His glare at me was too extreme. Too extreme, it could end the life of any creature. He didn't scream nor snarl at me. His calmness just lasted for moments. I couldn't actually understand what he was thinking about. "You said tomorrow, right?" His tone was calm. I nodded. Agony washing all over me. My fists clenched tightly, my heart raced to the fullest. The bitterness compounded. Yet, I stood strong. A fray to overcome. With that infuriated look still on his countenance, Eric treaded away. I let out a deep breath, closing my eyes, more tears kept on coming. It hurt as hell, but I wasn't that loud for someone to hear me. However, I forgot a witch was still standing behind me. "You better stop standing there, you idiot. We have some guests coming tomorrow morning. So you better start getting ready for work." Helena was just irritating as always. I turned to her. "Why? I will no longer be a part of this family, tomorrow. I don't see the need for me to do that." "Aren't you just too stubborn?" She said. "Like it or not, you are going to do as I say. Is that understood?" She arched her eyebrow, right after her imperative. No words were uttered for me. We didn't say anything to each other. She walked away, feeling victorious, just as always. I was just heartbroken, a lot of things materializing in my head. But as you have seen, this was how I had been treated by this family ever since I got married to Eric. Whenever they had guests coming over, or a party to throw, I would be the one doing all the work. Cleaning the house, cooking, all drudging stuff. They had maids, lots and lots of maids. But Helena just derived pleasure in seeing me grieve. She despised me to the point that she didn't even want to see a little smile on my face. Tasha was treated like the princess around here. Even some of the maids lacked respect for me, all because of Helena's attitude towards me. Eric was just silent about this whole situation. He acted like nothing was happening, when he clearly knew his mother's behavior towards me. My love for him led to this. Always putting up with their demeanor, no matter what the situation may be. But today, it would finally be over. Tomorrow, actually. ***** I leisurely opened my eyes, scanning the whole room. I was the only one in the bed. Not a new thing anyway. Eric wasn't here. I believed he had went to do as I had told him last night. He didn't want anything terrible thing happening to Tasha. What a caring boyfriend he was. The perfect lover-boy. Tasha was a big name in New England. A noted actress, respected by everyone. Just imagine the scandal that could arise if the people found out that she was nothing but a homewrecker. I had pictures of the both of them being intimate. A lot of photos that could actually ruin their reputation. Especially that of Tasha's. And you want to know the funny part? Tasha was the one who sent me all these photos. With the intention of breaking and ripping me apart. Inarguably, these photos had brought millions of sorrow upon me. I kept them by the way. The foolish actress didn't actually think of what could get down if these photos were leaked. How people would react once their eyes get to see the intimate pictures. Oh sorry, the romantic bullshit. With a yawn, I protracted both of my arms, getting fit for today. I could tell it was going to be one exhausting day. Although I'd actually be leaving the pain After getting up from my bed, I washed my face, then departed from my room. Walking down the stairs, I heard Tasha's voice. She was talking to Helena. Yes of course, it was her. There was no way in this world, I'd forget about that actress' broken voice. Her voice was tiny to a certain degree. Just as how her brain was as tiny as ants. I ceased my range, trying to see what these two were taking about. It was probably about me. That's what they were good at. Throwing curses at my face. "Last night, she said she'd be divorcing my son. As if that greedy and lowlife woman would actually want to let go of this family wealth." Helena spoke. I was all ears. She continued, "Of course, I want that. But do she really want that? Leaving all this wealth, and going back to her destitute life. No, I think she's going to request a lot of money from this divorce. Isn't going to be surprising to me." Tasha laughed lightly. "Come on now auntie. Don't say those things about her. Rose is actually a nice person. Her marriage with Eric seems to be a strong one. They have both been loving and caring for each other." Hearing Tasha's words, I coughed that very minute. Quite audible for them to hear me. They both turned around, I hid right away. "You heard that, didn't you?" Tasha asked Helena. "Yes, it must probably be one of those silly maids," Helena responded. "That's how they are, always wondering around. Making noises all over the house." "Oh okay," Tasha uttered softly. My detestation for her was getting to new heights. Look at how she's being nice, talking sweet things about me. When she clearly hated Rose Darlington. If she was alone with me, she wouldn't be displaying this hypocritical attitude. Eric entered the house like a bat out of hell. "Rose!" He shouted. Ire evident in his tone. "Where the hell is Rose?!"
