Chapter 13
NORA’S POV
When Daddy told me last night that grandma had called us to dinner, I wasn't too happy about it. Not because I didn't love Grandma Elena—I do. But because I haven't heard from Mama.
Not one phone call. Not even a message since we last saw each other in Manhattan.
I kept waiting. Maybe she was still angry. Maybe she didn't want to see me again.
I missed her so much. Even when daddy tried to make me laugh or Aunt Maya gave me new dresses, none of it felt the same.
But then Daddy promised we would go to Aunt Maya’s race after school tomorrow. That cheered me up a bit. I love her race.
I still hoped Mama would call.
Just once. Even a little text would be enough.
But It seems Mama doesn't think about me the way I think about her.
