LUCIAN’S POV
By the time my driver pulled up into my mansion that night, the alcohol had already settled deep in my body…warm, heavy, numbing, but not enough. Never enough to quiet the storm in my head.
The moment I stepped inside, I didn't turn on the lights. I just walked straight to the living room, loosened my tie, and dropped into the nearest chair.
Silence. Except it wasn't really silent, not with her name clawing through every corner of my mind.
Elora, always Elora.
My phone buzzed, without checking the caller ID, I just dragged it to my ear.
“Lucian.” the voice at the other end called.
Aiden, my beta.
He sounded tired, probably fed up with the mess I've been making of my life lately.
“I've been trying to reach you for hours.” He said. “We need to talk about the pack…”
I just sighed.
I wasn't listening. I wasn't even really present. I stared blankly at the ceiling until the words fell out of me.
“I messed up, Aiden.”
There's a pause at his end. Then a long sigh, the type he lets
