ELORA’S POV
The interrogation room smells like old coffee and disinfectant. It clings to the back of my throat as I sit with my hands folded on the metal table, my wrists still aching where the cuffs had been earlier. My cheek throbs beneath the thin makeup they let me keep. I can feel the faint pull of stitches on my hand every time my fingers twitch.
Detective Harris sits across from me, sleeves rolled up, expression careful; he doesn't look kind or cruel. Just…watching me closely.
To my right, Adrian leans back in his chair, looking too calm and polished for the situation on ground, like this room belongs to him.
To say I was shocked when I saw him was an understatement, but I never expected Lucian to go for anything less.
