ELORA'S POV
“Elora, I don’t like this.”
Lucian repeated for the third time since I told him I needed to see Maya.
“Lucian…” I murmured.
He glanced at me briefly, his grip firm on the steering wheel. “Baby, you don’t have to do this. We can always find better ways to spend our time than coming here.”
“I know,” I said softly. “But it’s just a few minutes. I need to see her. Maybe talk to her.”
“Elora, please listen to me,” he said, his tone gentle but firm. “Nothing good ever comes from reopening wounds that haven’t healed. Trust me, baby…you won't like the end of this.”
I exhaled slowly. “Okay, fine. Then come in with me.”
He frowned. “What?”
“We go in together. I talk to her, and we leave. A few minutes is all I ask for. That’s all.”
He studied my face for a moment, weighing his options, then sighed. “Fine. But the second this turns ugly, we’re out.”
I nodded. “Deal.”
