Chapter 223
ELORA’S POV
“Baby, please…it’s okay.”
“No, it’s not,” Lucian sobbed, his voice breaking as he buried his face in my chest.
“It’s so unfair. Everything you went through because of me. I’m so sorry, baby. I’m so, so sorry.”
He’s been like this ever since I told him my grandma gave us her blessing.
Ever since the truth came out.
A whole decade. Ten long years of coldness, distance, silence….born from a misunderstanding that should’ve never existed. A loveless marriage that drained the life out of me piece by piece. I should be crying right now. Screaming, falling apart all over again.
But the truth is…I’m tired.
I’ve cried enough tears to last me a lifetime.
There was a moment…just a brief, terrifying moment…where I thought maybe we should end this before it truly begins. Walk away before the scars reopen. Before the pain finds new ways to hurt us.
But we’ve come too far.
And I love this man too much to give up now.
Lucian clutched me like I might disappear, his shoulders shaking as guilt
