Nicole The next morning, I dragged myself downstairs to the kitchen, my head pounding with the worst hangover I'd experienced in years. I poured myself a glass of water and gulped it down, desperate to ease the dryness in my throat. The memory of last night's confrontation with Damien was still raw in my mind. I needed to talk to someone who would understand, so I dialed Dodie's number. The phone rang twice before she answered with a groggy, "Hello..." "Dodie, what happened last night? I ran into Damien in the bathroom, and he brought me home," I said, massaging my throbbing temple. There was a strange pause on the other end of the line. I could hear the unmistakable sound of a bus engine in the background. "Oh, Alpha Zavier took me away last night," Dodie finally mumbled, her voice still heavy with sleep. My eyes widened. "Alpha Zavier? Damien's childhood friend? His best man?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. When had those two become involved? "That's right," Dodie confirmed.
