262: Edge of Despair
As Emma's words hung in the air, the wind howled across the rooftop, an invisible force that seemed to amplify the tension. The neon lights of the city below created an eerie glow, casting long, ominous shadows. Bella, with madness in her eyes, loomed over Emma, her silhouette distorted and menacing.
"Let my brother worry about that," Bella spat out bitterly, her voice laced with venom. "By the time they realize what's happened, it'll be too late. You'll be a distant memory, and perhaps then, Alex will understand the depth of my love for him. Maybe then, he'll realize the mistake he made in choosing you over me."
Emma, despite the precarious situation, refused to let fear take over. "Bella, this madness... it won't bring Alex back to you. It won't erase the pain or the mistakes. Don't let your last act be one of such senseless violence. There's still time to step back from this edge."
The city below them seemed to hold its breath, the usual hustle and bustle fading into a dist
