Chapter 56
"He's shifting." My father scooped him up in his arms and we all ran outside on the cold damp grass. Once the sound of breaking bones met my ears, I finally realized we had two humans here, witnessing a shift. "You guys need to go inside, now." I ordered, Melanie turning on her heel to enter the house.
Thea was in my arms, stiff as a boulder, "Come on." I said over the screams of my teenage brother. I needed to get her out of here before he shifts fully.
But by the final deafening crack, and as horror struck her face, I knew it was too late. I then had to physically drag her inside as she began breathing heavily. "H-He," She stammered, looking up at me for an explanation.
"I know, I know." I murmured, trying to get her as far away from the scene as I could. I gently sat her on the couch.
"No fucking way," She breathed heavily before slumping against the cushion behind her, passing out cold.
I rubbed my eyes frustratedly,
