Chapter 16

Back in Nordia, a loud crash echoed as the bottle slipped from Howard's hand and shattered on the floor. The heavy scent of alcohol permeated the air as he lay sprawled on the couch in a disheveled state. "Eve, why are you doing this to me? You loved me so much. Why were you so cruel to leave?" Howard tilted his head back, pouring the strong liquor down his throat in large gulps, yet he seemed incapable of getting drunk. His mind kept flashing back to all the beautiful moments they'd once shared. Suddenly, a pair of hands gently caressed his face. Howard froze, then abruptly pulled the person into his arms. "Eve, you came back! I knew you wouldn't really leave me!" A flash of malice crossed the eyes of the person in his arms, though she quickly concealed it. "I'll never leave you." Howard held her tightly and lowered his head to kiss her. But the next second, he suddenly snapped back to awareness and shoved Anne to the floor forcefully. "Get away from me. You're not my Eve."
