This pattern continued throughout the morning. Every time I coughed, shifted, or even breathed too loudly, Kaelos would appear with a concerned expression to make sure I was okay.
At eleven o'clock, I heard Beta Archer's frustrated voice coming from the laptop speakers.
“Alpha, with all due respect, this is the third time you've left the meeting in the last ten minutes—”
“Luna needs water,” Kaelos cut in, his tone leaving no room for argument.
“Luna has hands, Alpha. She can pour her own water—”
“She's seven months pregnant with twins, Archer. She's not pouring anything herself.”
There was a long pause, then a voice that sounded like Gamma Cole stifling a laugh. “Maybe we should postpone this meeting until—”
“No,” Kaelos said firmly. “We're continuing. Seraphina is fine now.”
I shook my head with a smile, feeling guilty but also... loved. Very loved.
That afternoon, Callista came to visit with a basket full of food from the Pack kitchen.
