The High Council chamber was colder than I remembered. Not in temperature, but in tone. The walls, once lined with ancestral banners and echoing with the voices of legacy, now felt stripped—bare of the trust that once held this kingdom together.
I stood at the center of the circular hall, eyes locked on the council members seated above. Twelve in total. Each representing a major region. Some looked at me with suspicion. Some with fear. And a few with something close to admiration.
Kaelos stood behind me, silent but solid. A quiet fortress at my back.
The lead councilor, Elder Marius, cleared his throat. "Luna Seraphina. You've been summoned not just as a representative of Blackthorne, but as the current leader of the Crescent Alliance. We must now determine the course of action following the Flamehart breach."
