#Chapter 362: Why the Rush

The lock slides into place behind me from the other side of the door. A soft gasp escapes my lips as I turn and try the door handle, and that’s when it fully hits me: Damon really did just lock us in here.
“Let me go, Damon,” I say as calmly as I can. “This isn’t funny.”
“Funny?” Damon lets out a low chuckle that almost makes me feel sick. “Who said I’m trying to be funny?”
I swallow and finally turn to face him. He’s standing closer to me now, his green eyes almost seeming to glow like two emeralds in the flickering firelight.
“Let me go, please,” I repeat, pulling my shoulders back with an air of confidence that I don’t feel at all. “I’d like to return to my friends.”
“Why the rush, Abby?” Damon asks. That evil look in his eyes seems to fade, but I think it’s still there, lurking beneath the surface. Like a viper hidden in the underbrush, just waiting to strike. “Your friends can wait. Please, you’ve barely even touched your tea.”
