Chapter 21: Unexpected gratitude
Genevieve's POV
I watched him spit out the wine in his mouth in shock. He rubbed his chest repeatedly without taking his eyes off me.
"Why do you look so shocked? It's not like it's a lie," I said.
"Yes...no. I mean how could you say it like that, that too with a straight face?" he asked in disbelief.
"How else was I supposed to say it? You do know that this is kidnapping right? I can sue you for this," I said leaning onto the chair and folding my hands in front of me. He chuckled.
"Kidnapping? Sue? It's nothing that serious. All I did was bring a girl I like over for a romantic dinner," he winked at me. "Common, let's eat," he continued walking over to take a seat on the chair at the dining table. I stood up, walked towards him, and also took a seat.
He narrowed his eyes. "That was easy."
"It would be wrong of me to let this delicious-looking food go to waste. The problem I have is with you not with the food," I replied, grabbing my cutleries and starting to eat. I had been surprised
