Chapter 4 The Other Side Of The Bad Boy

Josh's POV "I can't Mom, the guys and I are heading over to Ashton's." I reason with my mother. My mom placed her hand on her hip and gave me a stern look, "Josh, please do this. She hasn't been herself lately and this would be good for her." She said with sadness in her eyes. As much as I didn't want to admit it, I know my mom was right. My six year old sister Jillian, hasn't been happy since Dad died two years ago. Mom wanted me to bring her to the park to help cheer her up. We have tried everything since then to try and make her the same again, but she only stays in her room most of the time and talks to no one. I felt bad for her, I wished she could be happy again. It was hard for me too when Dad died because we used to do everything together and he was the best dad anyone could ask for, but it was easier for me to get over his death because I'm older and I got a lot of support from the guys. Ashton knew my father well because we grew up together and his death hit him hard as well. However, Jillian was only four and she was daddy's little angel and she looked up to him. My heart just hurt seeing her sad like this. I just wish she could be her self again. "You're right, Mom." I said softly. "I'm going to bring her." "Thanks, honey. I really appreciate it." She looked at me with sad eyes, "I'm going upstairs to call her down." When she left, I got out my phone and called Ashton. He answer on the second ring, "Sup, bro?" Ashton greeted me. "I'm calling to tell you that I can't come over to yours today. I have to take Jillian to the park. Sorry bro." "That's okay, I understand. How is she by the way?" Ashton asked quietly. "The same. I don't know what to do." I said with a sigh. "She will come around man. Just wait and see." Ashton said reassuringly. "I hope so. See you tomorrow then." I said. "Cool man." And with that he hang up. I put my phone away and saw my mom coming downstairs with a sad looking Jillian. She was wearing a pink blouse with a dark blue shorts. Her brown hair was catch in two on either sides of her head. Her eyes, which was the same blue as mine, was shinning with sadness. She was holding her teddy bear that Dad gave her for her third birthday in her hands. I felt a pain in my chest at the sight of her. She came downstairs and stood beside me, "I don't want to go." She whined. "Come on. It will be fun." I said to her while taking her hand and headed for the door. "Have fun, sweetie." Mom said as we walked through the door. We reached the park soon after. I look at my sister's face and she was still sulking. This was weird to me because Jillian used to love the park and wanted to come here every Saturday with me, Dad or sometimes Mom. I used to love seeing her eyes light up at the sight of the ducks that she loved to feed. "Jill, do you want to feed the ducks? They have missed you." I said to her. She just shrugged. I took her hand and lead her to where you buy the feeds. After paying for and retrieving the feed in my hand, I put it in Jillian's hand so she can feed the birds. I was standing beside my sister while she feed the ducks, when I hear a high pitched scream. I looked around and saw a small boy running while a girl is chasing him. The girl caught up with him and grabbed him by the waist and spun him around in the air. The girl's eyes were shinning with excitement as she twirl the boy around. Her dark brown hair was beautiful and blowing around her face. Wait! She looks so familiar. Isn't that the girl that I had an encounter with twice this past week? What is her name again? Anastasia? No, that's not it. Adrianna? No. I think it's Alexandra. Yes! That's it. I think I heard her friends calling her Lexie though. I've never took notice of her before, but I couldn't help looking at her now. Her laughing was melodious and it lights up her whole face. Woah! Hold up. What am I even thinking? This is the girl that thought she could mess with me and no one messes with me. I'm supposed to be ignoring her, not thinking like this. She began to tickle the boy and now they were lying on the grass staring at the sky. I don't know why, but I couldn't stop myself from going over there. I took Jillian's hand and head in her direction. I came up to them from behind. When I was near enough, I smirked. "Well, well, well. What do we have here?" I said.
