Chapter 13
Sloane’s breath came in ragged pulls as she forced her way past the wall of bodyguards. The scene froze her heart. Two small pups, eyes blazing, teeth bared, her son Caleb and Jeremy, were locked in a brutal, childish fight, though the rage in their eyes was anything but childish.
“Stop!” she cried, her voice cutting through the chaos.
The bodyguards shifted uneasily, torn between stepping in and respecting the Alpha bloodlines colliding before them.
Caleb’s face was twisted with fury, his small fists clutching a handmade brooch. “He’s a thief!” Caleb spat at Jeremy. “Some bastard stealing what isn’t his!”
Sloane’s chest constricted. That brooch, her gift. She remembered the nights of sewing when money was tight, each stitch a quiet prayer for Caleb’s happiness.
