Rhea froze.
Did someone just save me?
For a split second, gratitude flooded her so hard she almost wanted to bow on the spot.
Then a voice cut cleanly through the air.
“Is this how you esteemed beings usually treat people?”
Rhea spun around, eyes widening.
“Sloane?!”
She hopped over despite her injured ankle and threw her arms around her best friend without hesitation.
“Sloane! You actually brought backup for me, oh my god, you’re my light, my electricity, my personal miracle!”

She lowered her gaze immediately.
“How’s your ankle?”
“It’s fine. The doctor said I just need rest, no running around.” Rhea shrugged.
Sloane nodded, then lifted her eyes.
“Where are they?”
Rhea pointed towards them. “Right there.”
Sloane’s gaze slid toward Alyssa and Joseph. Her lips curved faintly.
“Didn’t expect to see you again so soon.”
