Sloane froze for a fraction of a second when her gaze flicked past Lyra’s shoulder. Through the glass window beyond the washroom, she could clearly see Damon and Caleb standing together, their heads bent close in what looked like a rare moment of father son ease. The sight only sharpened the sting of Lyra’s venom.
Sloane inhaled slowly, then turned back to face her. “Groveling might be your thing, Lyra,” she said coolly, her voice slicing through the air. “You’ve always been happy playing the obedient little lap omega dog. But it doesn’t suit me. I have better things to do.”
Lyra’s smirk faltered, replaced by a flash of fury. “You’re just bitter, now that’s the cooling period os over and you still haven’t reconciled,” she snapped. “Do you miss it? The luxuries? The estate? The Blackthorn money you’ll never touch again?”
