Dominic shot the boy a look sharp enough to silence a room. Jeremy only grinned wider, hiding his face behind his bowl.
For a long moment, Dominic didn’t move. Then he exhaled quietly, picked up his spoon, and took a measured sip.
Sloane watched, nervous. “Is it… okay?”
His silver eyes flicked up, catching hers for the briefest second before he said, evenly, “It’s good.”
Something about the way he said it, simple, quiet, made her heartbeat trip.
Jeremy, meanwhile, stared like he’d just seen a ghost. His uncle voluntarily eating liver? Willingly?
“What’s wrong with you?” he blurted before he could stop himself.
Dominic arched a brow, spoon still in hand. “Something to say?”
Jeremy blinked. “Uh… nope.”
Sloane ducked her head, trying not to laugh. The tension in the room had shifted, warmer now, lighter. But beneath it, something else lingered.
When Dominic reached for another spoonful, his sleeve brushed her wrist, and the faint warmth that passed between them made her wolf stir restless
