Chapter 131
Aisha's POV
We didn't waste another second. The tigers shifted as one into their other forms, massive striped bodies cutting through the trees like shadows. I ran alongside them, the wind tearing at my hair, the bond inside me burning brighter the closer we drew.
The sounds of the battlefield grew clearer, the crash of bodies, the clash of weapons, the feral roars of wolves locked in combat. Smoke stained the horizon ahead.
My heart thundered. I could feel him now, Simon like a flame calling me home.
"Faster," I whispered to my wolf. And we obeyed.
The road to the border was long, a ribbon of mud and roots that wound through the forest. The air smelled of smoke long before we saw the faint glow of fires burning in the distance.
The closer we got, the more the bond pulsed like a drum inside me. He was near. And he was in danger.
We passed groups of wounded wolves staggering away from the front lines, their faces gray with pain. Some of them recognized me and stopped, their voices hoarse
