The rumors seemed to worsen over the past few days. Paul drew the curtains shut, blocking anyone from spying inside. Aside from the sound of typing, the office was silent.
"These people just won't go away. I wish I could shove their microphones down their throats."
"I'm sorry. My personal life has affected the law firm."
Paul waved it off dismissively at Emily's apology. "Don't be silly. I should thank you for coming back. But what should you do next? Hiding from them isn't a solution."
Emily turned to look at the floor-to-ceiling window. Her sharp gaze seemed to pierce through the thick curtains, staring straight at the reporters downstairs.
